ACCESS is a way to provide high-quality courses and teachers by means of technology. It is very beneficial to students who attend rural or low-income schools which often do not offer advanced degree options or many electives. ACCESS is a way to ensure that every child in Alabama has the same opportunities.
ACCESS will probably be very popular by the time I become a social studies teacher. I will definitely encourage my students to take courses through ACCESS, especially if I teach at a school with limited resources. I believe if a child has access to courses of interest, then he or she will also do better in all classes. While I do see the benefit of ACCESS, I would not want to be an E-Teacher. I can use a computer fairly well but I do not want to be working on one constantly. Plus, despite the many ways to communicate with students through ACCESS, I still do not think it will be personal enough. Being an E-Teacher will be great for many educators, but in order for me to do my best I think I need to be in a traditional classroom.
