ALEX

ALEX stands for Alabama Learning Exchange. It is a website that provides beneficial resources for not only teachers but also for students and parents. ALEX allows teachers to communicate with other professionals, find wed links related to their course of study, and makes lesson planning easy. Students have access to course related information and educational activities. Parents can use ALEX to become educated on the very subject matter their children are learning about in school.

ALEX would not be possible if not for the help of the Verizon Foundation and the Alabama Supercomputer Authority. ALEX is funded by the office of Technology Initiatives and the Federal Government.

When I become a social studies teacher I am going to love having access to ALEX. I will completely take advantage of everything ALEX has to offer. I will use ALEX to plan my lessons, find ideational information, and to keep myself on track. I also will be able to communicate with more experienced teachers through Listserves, which will hopefully help me adjust to being a new teacher.

I think the best thing about using Alex is that it will help me save time. Since ALEX will save me time on things like lesson planning, I will be able to concentrate more on my students. I will be able to examine their work more carefully and be able to fine out what area they need help in. Alex seems like a program that will not only benefit Educators but more importantly will help students.
